April, the Seed Moon The name says it all; this is a moon for planting, sowing, or simply setting new projects in motion. Dance for joy at the coming warmth and celebrate beginnings.

Spring cleaning can be done. A big project that needs to get started. It’s a moon for thoughts of the future, “What do I need to do to get to where I want?”

This is the 200th post on this website. Amazing how time flies isn’t it? Note the actual number in the URL of the post is #266. That means there have been 66 drafts that I started writing and since deleted. Or posts that I deleted for one reason or another. Wow, a lot of lost thought in the recesses of my database.

I’ve decided to put up another spell. So here it is folks again from my personal Book of Shadows, slightly modified from The Element Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells. I hope you all enjoy this spell. This is a simple protection spell using something found in most houses. Normal White Rice. White Rice is great for absorbing negative energies to prevent them from getting past the rice.

Doorstep Spell: Rice

1. Fill an open jar with raw white rice.
2. Place the jar by the entrance door for protection.
3. Rice doesn’t repel evil; it absorbs it. Replace with fresh raw rice weekly.
4. Do not bring the old rice back into your home. Do not cook it. Dispose of it outside the home, whether by burning, throwing away, or scattering on Earth.

Remember rice absorbs things unwanted. Generally it is a good idea to tell the rice what you want it to absorb like an e-mail filter. It may absorb things you don’t want absorbed or it may not absorb things you want to not enter your home. You need to be sure to place IDENTICAL jars if you have more then one entrance to your home.

REMEMBER: DO NOT EAT! All that absorbed energy will be entering your body. On the flip side, if you wish it to absorb good thing for a week then eating it will bring the good things into your body, however the household will have a week of poor/negative energy.

This spell is slightly modified from The Element Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells. I’ve made changes as I’ve found them to be necessary. It uses the Fiery Wall of Protection Formula.

Bells protect against evil. Their ringing causes many malicious spirits to flee and they are thus a primary component of exorcism rites. It’s not only their ringing tones that repel evil; bells, like broomsticks and mortars and pestles, are a discreet metaphor for the reproductive act. Creative acts of life counteract forces of destruction. For this protective ritual, four silver or iron bells are required.

1. Consecrate the bells with the Fiery Wall of Protection Incense. (Pass the bells though the smoke.)
2. Charge the bells. Hold them at your eye level, and tell them their mission, aloud if possible.
3. Hang one in each corner of the area to be protected, preferably indoors.
4. The bells will warn when danger appears from that direction by spontaneously ringing.
5. Recharge bells that ring (See step 2.)
6. After an emergence or perhaps as annual maintenance, repeat the entire ritual.

All this hubbub about Obama’s Pastor in the last couple of weeks has got me thinking. What role should Religion really play in politics?

Years ago I would have said NONE!

That was when I was not religious. Since then I’ve realized religion can be helpful in life.  Religion is a good guide for morality. As long as Religion is supplemented with a healthy dose of reality and taken in moderation.

So what role should it play?

I’d like to see religion as an issue, an issue under a ‘character issues’ category, like economy is under ‘national issues’. I’d like each candidate talk about their religious beliefs, in a very candid way. However, that would never happen. I think most of them would sound similar.

I would use this litmus test: An’ it harm none, do what ye will.

A.K.A. As long as their religious beliefs didn’t condone harming anyone I could vote for them.

This would again, never happen, but I think it should.
