The U.S. House of Representatives defeated the $700,000,000,000 “economic bailout” yesterday. Which means congress finally listened to the People! The people have been aginst this from the beginning, including almost everyone I’ve talked to. The bill was not quite sure where all the money would go…

Also, all the money was in the hands of one man. The Secretary of the Treasury who was by the wording of the bill required to make sure he assured the economic well being of the Citizens of the United States. Well, I don’t remember that being in the Constitution. I know we are to promote but not assure.

Well anyway. The bill was defeated. So they get to rework it. This is not something that needs rushed. It’s more important that this needs to be done correctly then quickly.

So here’s the vote.

Total: Aye: 205 Nay: 228 No Vote: 1

Democrats: Aye: 140 Nay: 95 No Vote: 0

Republicans: Aye: 65 Nay: 133 No Vote: 1

I just wanted to mention here, they only needed 12 more votes to pass it. They could have gotten that from Democrats alone. If you favor this bill (which I do not) you should be blaming Democrats. They could have, and if they really believed in the bill, should have forced it though. This shows even Democrats who were pushing for the bill the most don’t believe in it…. Just to note also, those 95 Democrats are on financial committees and in highly contested reelection runs.

Thank You Congress, for listening.

P.S. My Rep, Danny Davis, voted for it, so he’s lost some points in my mind for November.

Last night I was talking to a friend about Sarah Palin. And they said “She is not qualified to be president.” I have two issues with this and do not feel like I was able to respond properly. So I chose that I will do it here. I have two issues with what she said. One of them I got to say the other I didn’t.

The one I got to say was that she’s not running for president. And I got the response “Well, she’s only a heart beat away.” This angered me. You NEVER assume someone is going to die. Never ever ever! This is like the ultimate anti-humanity. I don’t know how to express how disgusted I am by this statement. Apparently though it’s acceptable, because everyone is doing it. But I will leave this aside.

Let’s look at the qualifications to be president. My source is The Constitution of the United States, Article II, Section 1, Paragraph 5:

No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States

So, there are only three qualifications:

  1. Natural born citizen
  2. 35 Years old.
  3. Lived in the United States at least 14 of those 35 years.

Interesting, I didn’t know that 3rd one existed until I pulled out the Consution this morning. But the first two are required learning in public Jr. High school. So everyone should know at least those two of the 3 requiremets. They should know the qualifications to be president have nothing to do with their policy, nothing to do with religion, nothing to do with their intentions, nothing to do with most of their past. Only where they’ve lived, how long they’ve lived and where they were born. Simple. So let’s take a look at the 2 presidntal canidates and “just in case” the two VP canidates as well. Note

Obama (from his wikipedia). BORN: August 4, 1961 (1961-08-04) (age 47) Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S.A.

Biden (from his wikipedia): BORN: November 20, 1942 (1942-11-20) (age 65) Scranton, Pennsylvania.

McCain (from his wikipedia):BORN: August 29, 1936 (1936-08-29) (age 72) Coco Solo Naval Air Station, Panama Canal Zone, Panama. (A U.S. Naval Air Station is still U.S. Soil)

Palin (from her wikipedia): BORN: February 11, 1964 (1964-02-11) (age 44) Sandpoint, Idaho, U.S.

There you have it, all 4 qualify for #1 and #2. In reading those wikipedias and doing some math they all also qualify #3. You are welcome to read the Wikipedias if you wish.

So, I NEVER EVER again want to hear one of these for is not qualified to be president! They fit all qualifications just fine. You may not agree with them you may not feel they deserve your vote for whatever reason. But I can tell you, they are all supriemly qualified.

There are no policy reqiremnts, there’s no past job history requirements. Do not change the Constituion in your own mind.

I have plenty of reading to do in the next couple of days. Dad just came back from Washington D.C. He got me the Declaration of Independence and The Constitution, I will be reading them both, and all the amendments, word for word. I am very sick of people telling me what’s in them. I want to read them and come to my own conclusion.

I already read two interesting things. 1. The U.S. Senators used to be elected by the House of Representatives. 2. Income Tax used to be illegal.

So I shall continue reading!
