The U.S. House of Representatives defeated the $700,000,000,000 “economic bailout” yesterday. Which means congress finally listened to the People! The people have been aginst this from the beginning, including almost everyone I’ve talked to. The bill was not quite sure where all the money would go…

Also, all the money was in the hands of one man. The Secretary of the Treasury who was by the wording of the bill required to make sure he assured the economic well being of the Citizens of the United States. Well, I don’t remember that being in the Constitution. I know we are to promote but not assure.

Well anyway. The bill was defeated. So they get to rework it. This is not something that needs rushed. It’s more important that this needs to be done correctly then quickly.

So here’s the vote.

Total: Aye: 205 Nay: 228 No Vote: 1

Democrats: Aye: 140 Nay: 95 No Vote: 0

Republicans: Aye: 65 Nay: 133 No Vote: 1

I just wanted to mention here, they only needed 12 more votes to pass it. They could have gotten that from Democrats alone. If you favor this bill (which I do not) you should be blaming Democrats. They could have, and if they really believed in the bill, should have forced it though. This shows even Democrats who were pushing for the bill the most don’t believe in it…. Just to note also, those 95 Democrats are on financial committees and in highly contested reelection runs.

Thank You Congress, for listening.

P.S. My Rep, Danny Davis, voted for it, so he’s lost some points in my mind for November.

Today is the 7th anniversary of September 11, 2001. I was in English class when it all happened. As I’m sure everyone in the U.S. knows where they were. Every time this anniversary rolls around I think about the people that attacked us. Specifically what they are called “Muslim Extremists”. So Muslims are not the enemy Muslim Extremists are. This is my first conclusion. I know a couple of Muslims and they are very nice people that would never hurt a flea. After reading much of the Koran, I’ve found out taken with a rational mind it can be very encouraging. However, when people take it wrong, it comes out wrong. I.E. September 11th.

So the problem would therefore be the Extremists part of that. People that take their religion too far. People that believe that use the Koran to justify murder. People that are out of touch with our world’s society…

Aren’t there Christians like that too? People that believe that the world is 5,000 years old, and we roamed the world with dinosaurs. People that believe the bible is a perfect historical record of the human race.

And Pagans too? Of course! Interesting, there are extremists in every possible religious group. People that just take religion past the society norm. People that take religion to deny science, or law, or genral humanity.

Wait? Aren’t there Democrats that will instantly say no to any idea a Republican proposes, even if it’s good for the country, just becuase it’s proposed by a Republcian? I would call this Extremism as well! But it goes thee other way. There Republicans that will instantly say no to any idea a Democrat proposes, even if it’s good for the country, just becuase it’s proposed by a Democrat. This is the fundemtal flaw in Washington. And there is no Democrat or Republican that has power that will change it.

Extremism causes a problem with humans. They get suck in their own thoughts and plans and blackbox everything that conflicts. Most, if not all, of the problems of this world would be solved by open minds.

And those who say they have an open mind are least likely to have them…

As we all know rumors can be damaging. In fact, too damaging. There’s a massive rumor going around about Michelle Obama is facing some rumors floating about right now that she said ‘whitey’. I bet she wish she did say it.

This comes down to something about rumors. Rumors are dangerous because they can be interpreted a little more then fact can. People have leverage because it’s only a rumor. They can believe it, or not, and when they do it’s always the worst possible way it can be taken. If the actual video were leaked, if she said it or not, this would be long off the radar of anyone.

Fact, however, is not flawless. It can be interpreted a little as well. So, it could end up being bad for Obama if the facts come out. It could be good. There could be nothing there. She may have said it in a way that wasn’t at all terrible. However, it could be terrible.

But, either way, this is ONLY RUMOR. You have to take every rumor and DISREGARD IT. I don’t mean to sound pro-Obama, but in all honesty, rumor bites.

Today was the end of the primaries. Obama got the number he needed. He has, as of 1am Wednesday 2,156 (remember the number he needed to win was 2,118). I did not listen to the speeches live, I had a friend over here and we were busy with some anime (Ouran High School Host Club) and the Cubs game (they won by the way [Go Cubs Go!]). I did listen to the highlights of the speeches. And here’s the jist, these are direct quotes:

Obama: “Because of you, tonight I can stand here and say that I will be the Democratic nominee for president of the United States.”

Clinton: “Now, the question is: Where do we go from here? And given how far we’ve come and where we need to go as a party, it’s a question I don’t take lightly. This has been a long campaign, and I will be making no decisions tonight.”

So, He’s claiming complete victory and she’s not saying she lost… Yet. It’s going to be hard for her to stay in much longer. However, in her defense now, these are not actual numbers, these are not solid numbers, these delegates can pretty much vote however they want when they get to the convention. So, she could take it all the way to the convention force the vote, just to be sure, and have a logical argument. Statically… this is a close race still. In Obama’s defense, he has enough that will vote for him for sure pretty much that it’s a done deal. And everyday this goes on hurts the party as a whole. I know it’s hurting the democrats in my eyes after some of the stuff that’s been going on.

I’ve been told by my father that Obama’s speech was excellent. I will be printing both out and reading them. I will scour for other things in these messages. Who knows? :)
