Senator Clinton ‘suspended’ her campaign today. This means she is no longer an active candidate for president. She, however, does keep all her delegates, can still raise money, and can step back in if things all of a sudden go south for Obama… Remember he is only the presumptive nominee. It is not official until the convention in Denver in August.

Now, if this all seems pro-Clinton I do not really mean it too. I’m just stating the facts. She CAN come back. I don’t think she should in fact I would have had her leave EARLIER. That’s all I really have to say about that news today.

Oh wait, one more thing. If you did not see the speech she made suspending her campaign, look it up. It was one of her best speeches, in fact it may have been her best. If she had been making speeches like this during the whole campaign, even just the beginning, I think this result would be VERY different. If she had started sounding like this… I think she could have won.

So here, it is. From CNN: Romney suspends presidential campaign. I was confused at first, I didn’t know what the difference was between dropping out and “suspending” the campaign. Here’s CNN’s explanation from the bottom of that article.

“Suspending a campaign has a different meaning depending on the party.

On the Republican side, decisions on how to allocate delegates are left to the state parties.

On the Democratic side, a candidate who “suspends” is technically still a candidate, so he or she keeps both district and statewide delegates won through primaries and caucuses. Superdelegates are always free to support any candidate at any time, whether the candidate drops out, suspends or stays in.

National party rules say a candidate who “drops out” keeps any district-level delegates he or she has won so far but loses any statewide delegates he or she has won.”

So this means, each state now allocate his delegates to the other two candidates. Intresting, I thought he would have kept them. The fun begins, if the states give them to Huckabee he’s almost caught up. Romney is very smart ;)
